Amsterdam shuts down most of Occupy camp

Amsterdam police say they arrested 14 protestors during an operation to remove some of the tents belonging to the Occupy Beursplein movement.
On Tuesday, the Amsterdam authorities told the Occupy activists that they had until Thursday morning to give 75 percent of the Beursplein back to ‘ordinary Amsterdammers’ and improve the fire safety, sanitary and hygiene measures throughout the rest of the protest camp.

Man charged after alleged theft at Kohl’s in Amsterdam

An Amsterdam man has been arrested following the alleged theft of about $500 in merchandise from the Kohl’s store on Route 30.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded responded to a robbery complaint at the Kohl’s in the town of Amsterdam. Sheriff’s deputies and Amsterdam police were able to obtain surveillance video of an incident in which a customer was confronted by store personnel while leaving the store without paying for merchandise. A physical struggle ensued, and the suspect left the store. More >
